1. Information we may collect
- Phone number information used for poll participation, payment matching and Results entitlement validation.
- Payment references, transaction status and related payment-provider responses.
- The poll option selected and the technical record needed to validate the response.
- Candidate submission details, including candidate profile information and, for third-party nominations, the nominator’s name, phone number and email address.
- Messages submitted through the contact form.
- Technical and security information such as session identifiers, timestamps, request information and rate-limit/security events.
- An opaque trusted-browser token used to recognize eligible Results access on the browser/device that completed a successful transaction.
2. How we use information
- Record and validate poll participation.
- Process and reconcile payments.
- Prevent duplicate or abusive participation.
- Recognize eligible Results access automatically on a previously trusted browser/device.
- Review and publish approved candidate information.
- Respond to support, correction and dispute requests.
- Protect the platform, investigate errors and maintain audit records.
- Meet applicable legal or regulatory obligations.
3. What is public and what stays private
Published candidate profiles may display approved public-facing information such as a candidate’s name, photograph, party, position, electoral area, biography and public social links. Candidate contact details supplied for review are not displayed publicly by default, and third-party nominator contact details are kept private for administrative review.
Individual voter phone numbers and individual voting choices are not published publicly. Poll Results are presented in aggregated form.
4. Service providers
We may share only the information necessary to provide a service with trusted processors, such as payment providers, mobile-money services, hosting/infrastructure providers and technical service providers.
Information may also be disclosed where required by Kenyan law, a valid legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect users, the platform or the public.
5. Data security
We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to reduce unauthorized access, misuse or disclosure. These include restricted administrative access, secure sessions, rate limiting and protection of sensitive identifiers used for verification. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including payment reconciliation, fraud prevention, Results access continuity, candidate review, dispute handling, security and legal obligations. Trusted-browser tokens are stored server-side only in hashed form and expire or can be revoked; the browser cookie itself contains only a random opaque value.
7. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable Kenyan data-protection law, you may request access to, correction of, restriction of or deletion of personal information where those rights apply. Some records may need to be retained for payment, security, dispute or legal purposes.
For candidate-profile corrections or privacy requests, contact us and provide enough information for us to verify and locate the relevant record.
8. Cookies and sessions
The platform uses essential session technology for security and continuity, plus a persistent trusted-browser cookie that recognizes eligible Results access on the browser/device used for a successful transaction. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
9. Policy updates
We may update this policy as the platform, service providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will be published on this page with its updated date.
