About Hon. Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua
Hon. Rigathi Gachagua is a Kenyan politician, businessman, and former public administrator who served as Deputy President of Kenya from September 2022 to November 2024. He previously represented Mathira Constituency in Nyeri County as Member of Parliament from 2017 to 2022.
Born on 28 February 1965, Gachagua studied Political Science and Literature at the University of Nairobi and later undertook advanced public administration training at the Kenya School of Government. Before elective politics, he served in several government administrative roles, including as a District Officer and as a personal assistant in senior government offices.
After leaving the Deputy Presidency, Gachagua remained active in national politics and became the leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), launched in 2025. He is known for his strong political influence in the Mount Kenya region and his outspoken positions on governance, economic issues, and national leadership.
